2023 - 2024 PROJECTS

Trelleborg: IUS Optimization

The IUS Optimization team assisted in developing the final device assembly process for a Trelleborg product line. This support included creating fixtures, designing the room and equipment layout, establishing and optimizing the process flow, and determining material movement. The overall objective was to establish an optimal process for the assembly of an intrauterine device (IUD).

Team Members: Alice Chung (Lead) | Jaafar Al Shatari | James Engebretson | Ofer Barr | Matt Wai

J&M Products: Dashboard Optimization

The team worked with J&M Products to enhance existing dashboards in Looker Studio for better shop floor use. They collaborated with the Operations Manager to understand production needs and updated the data entry page to capture key metrics like scrap rate. The project resulted in clear, actionable reports for both management and shop floor teams.

Team Members: Sydney Lunasin (Lead) | Brent Nakashima (Analyst) | Jasmine Cabrera | Rory Folan | Sohini Pillay

J&M Products: Data Collection Optimization

The team assisted in J&M Products' transition from manual to real-time production data collection. They worked on automating data entry from work centers by developing and deploying microcontroller-based devices, such as Arduinos, to act as data nodes. This involved custom software development and integration with J&M’s existing MySQL database, enabling more efficient and accurate performance tracking on the production floor.

Team Members: Ethan Fischer (Lead) | Ryan Dosanjh (Analyst) | Dakshesh Pasala | Eeshan Walia | Giovanni Wang

Rogall & Co: Van Optimization

The Van Storage Optimization Club team supported Rogall+Co in implementing a standardized van storage system using the 5S methodology. The team organized and designed efficient storage layouts, led in-person 5S events, and physically assisted with setting up the new system in the vans. Their efforts aimed to streamline the van organization and enhance workflow at job sites.

Team Members: Jakob Kaufman (Lead) | Shashank Thapa (Analyst) | Hailey Tamara | Nigel Stafford | Emery Frink

Inspired Flight: Dual Production Analysis

The Dual Production Analysis team supported the launch of Inspired Flight's new commercial quadcopter, the IF800. As the company prepares to run dual production lines for the first time, the team analyzed the production floor to identify layout inefficiencies, tool allocation challenges, material flow issues, bottlenecks, and potential quality concerns. The project resulted in targeted recommendations to improve overall production floor efficiency and support scalable manufacturing.

Team Members: Liam Cohagan (Lead) | Theo Sprouse | Leah Hom | Phoebe Eplett

Radiology Associates: Website Creation and Revamp

The Website Creation and Revamp team partnered with Radiology Associates to improve their online presence and better serve patients, where they redesigned and implemented two websites: the Central Coast MD directory and the Radiology Associates main site. The team gathered user requirements, focused on improving accessibility and usability, and built both sites to meet customer needs better and enhance the patient experience.

Team Members: Celeste Johnson (Lead) | Ryan Salazar | Breana Wu | Yujiun Chen

Flush Packaging - Cost Tool Projection Analysis

The Flush Packaging team developed a cost projection and quoting tool to streamline their pricing process. The team reviewed and organized historical quote data, cross-referenced it with in-house design specs, and identified key inputs needed for accurate pricing. The result was a tool designed to generate consistent, efficient quotes across different volume tiers for custom box orders.

Team Members: Tony Gudkov (Lead) | Brady Schroth (Analyst) | Ridhima Prashanth | Shivam Shrivastav | Justin Banh

Corberosa Coffee: Cold Brew Canning Line

The Cold Brew Canning Line team evaluated necessary equipment, determined batch sizes to meet monthly demand, and designed visual flow charts to represent the process. They also established a balanced production line using takt times, work breakdowns, and shadow boards. The final outcome was a detailed plan for a fully functional production line, including a parts list and CAPEX estimate for setup.

Team Members: Tyler Luby Howard (Lead) | Rin Tanaka (Analyst) | Nathan Gee | Sarah Chung | Michael Vieira
